Fall Transitions - Style Collab with The Original Sam Smith

Happy Tuesday everyone!!  One of my favorite bloggers, Samantha Smith, and I have teamed up to showcase a few looks to transition into Fall using the gorgeous Monoreno Embroidered Palazzo Pants!!!  (BONUS - Take $10 off this style RIGHT NOW!!)

I know it's hot and humid right now, but trust me, in a few weeks (EEK!) you will be wondering how to begin the transition into Fall and no pumpkin spice lattes are not the only way to do it.  :)

These pants have been one of the pieces I have received the most questions about.  Let me just start by saying how absolutely comfortable they are.  Monoreno is known for designs that are for a woman's body and these pants are no exception.  They also run generous due to the elastic waist, so feel free to order a size down or invest in a good tailor to keep them in top quality.  My favorite way to rock these pants is by pairing these with a white tank top, brass toned necklace and Kenzie Sandals by Yellowbox.

Another fun way to update your Summer look is to pair tone on tone.  The Double Layer Tank (also by Monoreno) looks stylish paired with these pants.  Add some layered bracelets and a long necklace and you are set.  Bring the boho chic look together with fringe sandals.

As the temperature begins to cool down, it's time to break out one of my favorite staple pieces - A DENIM JACKET!!!  I don't care what anyone says, this piece will NEVER go out of style.  I paired the pants with a white button down blouse and a denim jacket.  To hold onto a bit of summer, I kept the fringe sandals to finish out the style.

Of course once we are full on into Fall, add one of my OTHER favorite staple pieces - the chambray button up.  I would recommend tying this at the waist or tucking in (I know you are scared, but trust me it will make you look so much slimmer!!).  I also grabbed a brown suede stacked ankle bootie for texture and season appropriateness.

Which one is your favorite!?  Let me know in the comments below!!

Sam is a young, fashionable and super fun stylist and blogger who also hails from Southern Illinois, so be sure to check out the looks she put together for inspiration.  Be sure to follow her and keep the Southern IL style alive!!!

Til next time - keep it stylish!

My Fav Looks From The Devil Wears Prada

So it's been a decade since this story came to life on the big screen.  At the time, I remember thinking how much I loved Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt and Meryl Streep.  It was the trifecta of style and talent and I wanted to share with all of my #wlbstylecrew which looks made my heart skip a beat back in the day.

This one was my favorite for a lot of reasons, but mostly because of how chic and easy the look was.  Black silk shift, black tailored jacket, tons of gold chains (lucky girl, Chanel was dripping from her neck) and black suede knee high boots.  You can easily recreate this look now and still look fashion forward a decade later.

Yes, she was terribly rude, but she was dedicated to a fashion forward look.  It was a toss up between this look and her fabulous Diane von Furstenburg wrap dress (you know the one - the piece she's wearing when Andy emerges after her makeover with Nigel) but I love the juxtaposition of the rock and roll edge and the classic silhouette.  Her character may have been nasty, but she looked chic and edgy.  That's not an easy look to pull off.

Striking fear into the hearts of audiences and characters alike, the phenomenon that is Meryl Streep looked sophisticated, elegant and ruthless.  I loved the unexpected hue of a deep eggplant in the rich fur with an office ready look that makes everyone around her sit up and take notice.  From the sunglasses to the shoes, everything about this ensemble is on point.

As Miranda Priestly would say, "That's all."

Miss Me?

"I know this transformation is painful, but you're not falling apart; you're just falling into something different, with a new capacity to be beautiful."
-William C Hannan
I came across this quote and it literally stopped me in my tracks.  As some of you know, I made a big change recently and took a chance on myself and my business.  To say it was a big decision was certainly putting it mildly and it has been one of the toughest ones I have ever had to make peace with.  If I'm totally honest with you, I'm still working through it because "what if?" can creep in and make you wonder.   I know a lot about myself in ways I had never imagined at this point and some things I could have maybe avoided (ha!), but these lessons are providing me with the strength and tenacity to see through my dreams.  Things may not have been served up in a package that I would have chosen, but I am trusting all roads will lead to my next chapter.
Change can be terrifying but if you allow yourself to be still, it can become a time of looking forward to the things you hope for.  However, there are other times when change appears out of nowhere and can bring you to your knees. Sometimes you can justify the lesson and other times you can't quite understand why change appeared in your world.  But as most things in life, you may not understand the reason, but you can find peace in knowing there is a definitive purpose.  I have experienced more than one type of change in the past couple of months, but the dust is slowly beginning to settle and I'm excited to share with all of you the NEW wlbstyle.com!!!   Here is a little bit of what my vision is for this brand, lifestyle and journey.
Simple & streamlined.  I hope #WLBSTYLE will become a part of your style story - whether you need outfit inspiration, want to know what new looks I am loving or just want to hang out, I hope you stop by.
#OOTD.  This collection will host all of my favorite looks of the day, along with some fun style series that I have in the works.   This will also be an area where I will showcase "Style Stories" inspired by some of my favorite style icons and films.
#MUSTHAVES.  These are pieces I know will make your style story a happy one!
My approach to style, plans and more will all live in this area of the site.  I will be discussing products available here and from other stores to show you different ways of styling your looks.  I will be continuing my "Weekly Style Tips" series as well, but instead of sticking with just fashion, I will be including style tips for all facets of life - food, health, life, home and anything else I feel is useful and worth sharing.
So here's to the beginning of this journey.  Thank you for coming along with me.  We will have so much fun, I promise!
